Sheila Crye CCP, Lead Chef, Executive Director  In Chef Sheila Crye’s family both her mother and father cooked. Her dad had a big vegetable garden and loved to make and can pickles in the summer on a Coleman camp stove in the garage, where it was cool. Her four sisters and brother and she all learned how to cook not only from their parents but also from the 4-H Club. They would enter baked goods in the Montgomery County fair competitions and win ribbons and cash prizes. Chef Crye’s work today, showing young people how to cook at home, repeats these happy memories for her.

Tania Salmeron, Assistant Chef, began teaming up with Young Chefs in 2015 during an Excel Beyond the Bell after-school cooking program at Montgomery Village Middle School. Since then, she has provided capable assistance with several summer cooking camps. Kids love her sweet and gentle attitude–they feel supported and confident to try new skills and taste novel foods with her encouragement. Tania is a culinary graduate of Lincoln College of Technology.

    1. Lesley, youth cooking camps are held in my home, near the Mormon Temple in Silver Spring. Email me for details: crye4(at)aol.com.

  2. Hi Sheila,

Do you ever offer classes for adults? Thank you.

    1. Kathleen, I do offer classes for adults! Tomorrow there will be a class at the Rockville Senior Center–Quick Irish Lamb Stew and Mini Irish Soda Breads. Every season except summer, you can find my classes through Montgomery County Recreation on ActiveMontgomery, under the Cooking tab. Private classes at your home or mine are also available. Sorry I did not see your message until now, and I hope the information is still useful!
